Original Artwork: "Jackson's chameleon"
A2 blackboard with white pencil -2017

In this Artwork, I wanted to explore the monotonous life of animals in captivity. I chose to emulate these ideas by drawing an animal that is most commonly associated with vibrant colours. Further, I portrayed the Jackson's Chameleon in black and white so as to contrast the colours it expresses in real life, thus creating a sense of sadness and boredom that is evoked through its harsh juxtaposing colours in this profiled depiction of the animal. Additionally,  this artwork challenges the ideas of urbanisation by revealing the negative impact on nature that humanity is responsible for. However, there is also a sense of beauty that is exposed in this composition, purposefully creating an internal conflict from the perspective of the viewer. Furthermore, these notions challenge societies perception of nature versus urbanisation.

The Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House is irrefutably one of the most iconic Australian buildings of the 20th century. Built in 1959, the Opera House was created by the Danish Architect Jørn Utzon. Given its  Harbour landscape, the Building was designed so as to mimic the appearance of a sailboat. Interestingly the 'sails' or roof of the Syndey Opera house was designed so as to maximise acoustics from within the building. Additionally, what strikes me the most about this piece of architecture is its foundations, as the entire platform of which the building is situated on was designed alongside the rest of the building. Furthermore not only is the Syndey Opera House a celebrated and beautiful aspect of Sydney's landscape but it also shows the creative ability of architects and the various factors that need to be considered in order to create a building that exceeds in both aesthetics and functionality.

Beauty: "The ruins of Sigiriya" -2015

I captured this photograph using my  Canon EOS 550D on a family trip to Sri Lanka in 2015. The image reveals a foreground, middle ground and background that I found extremely striking. Ultimately, the landscape reveals a transition from the wilderness of the mountains in the distance to urbanisation in the middle ground, and finally ending in the foreground which reveals the ruins of an old fortress. Moreover revealing the cyclical nature of life and the longevity and ability of nature to overcome human impact on the environment. Henceforth, I chose this image to represent my idea of beauty, as I find the constant battle between nature and urbanisation to represent such notions, as this image reveals that both contrasting aspects are beautiful in their own right however they both function as a destructive impact on each other. Hence the photograph embodies the notion that beauty is temporary. Additionally, I find this image to be aesthetically pleasing to me in terms of colour and composition that flows and shifts throughout the entirety of the photograph.
